What are SARS-CoV-2 Neutralizing Antibodies?

An immune response to SARS-CoV-2 generates an array of antibodies against the causative SARS-CoV-2 virus, but only a subset of these antibodies binds to the viral S1-protein receptor binding domain (RBD) site and prevent the initial binding of virus to human cells. This subset of antibodies is called neutralizing antibodies as they bind a way that prevents the virus from infecting host cells.
